Just in case you were unclear as to the relationship that exists here. It is as if you are trying to gain entry into the elite club of financial independence, but credit card debt just won't let you in. No, you have to do its laundry, drive its girlfriend to class, and do one-armed push-ups at its command. The scary thing is, it can be like this forever, and the way you are going about this, that is looking more likely by the minute.

That said, how long are you supposed to endure this type of mental and physical abuse?

Until the stupid school becomes a slave to the U.S. News & Freaking World Report rankings and cracks down on these character-building traditions that teach people about taking care of their problems.
Until credit card debt reduction becomes indispensable - when you are unable to pay dues for the coming semester and your ass is thrown out of the house.
Assuming #1 and #2 are on hold for the time being, until you learn to respect this issue and understand your role. It all depends on the pledge class.

It's a good time for the members, and a nightmare for the pledges. Before tonight's lineup, you had better know your stuff if you don't want to sit on that beer bottle again and tell us how you'd eliminate credit card debt if you were some kind of debt Superman. It would be best if you mastered certain things:

The founding date of your fraternity's chapter.
The average credit card APR (18.3 percent). That's a key to winning over credit card debt.
The middle name of everyone in your pledge class.
The advantages of debt consolidation and credit counseling.

If you're looking for credit card debt consolidation to come in and save you from some old-fashioned hazing, it's not coming. Not unless you learn about it and put forth the effort. Do as credit card debt says, and what is expected of you according to the house by-laws. Kiss a$$ where appropriate. Credit consolidation has all the leverage, and you are but a lowly pledge. Respect must be earned in this context. You understand?
