The National Representative From Our Debt Counseling Service Goes Off

The national rep talks our ears off about a debt counseling service, yet again

First, a word about Ben Edmonds, the national philanthropy chair of Alpha Beta Debta. This is a man who was so in love with the fact that he actually got a bid to a frat that he decided to make it his life's work. Most of us are just here to drink. We could really care less about the national charter and the history of debt counseling service involvement and all that jazz. But Ben, during his once-per-semester visits to our house, loves to lay into us. The man is seriously into the whole debt counseling service thing, and I guess it's admirable. Sure is annoying, though. Below is the transcript of his most recent lecture...

"Are you guys at all concerned with the future of the debt counseling service in America?"

You sure are not acting like it. God. Sometimes I wonder what it is that made you join this fraternity in the first place, and whether national ought to review you guys. Do you do any work in the community promoting debt counseling services? Do you even know the scope of what a debt counseling service does and makes possible? Don't think I am clueless here. I know how it goes and how your minds work. I am sure you are smirking to yourselves, thinking "when the hell is this tool going to stop talking on and on about the damn debt counseling service and go back to his hotel so we can start drinking?"

Well, I am not going anywhere just yet. Not until I throw some serious credit and debt counseling advice your way. Look. I know you don't care about debt counseling in the least, and I offer this reason -- none of you have ever needed it. You lucky kids are at the top of the socioeconomic ladder right now, being subsidized by mom and dad to attend this nice school and party your brains out. Well the programs offered by a non-profit debt counseling service help out those Americans who are not quite as fortunate. Those who work hard just to get by and do not require a beer in their hands at all times to feel secure.

Hold a bake sale. Start a lecture circuit. Provide free advice to those who you think could use a debt counseling service to pay off their credit card bills and medical expenses. Whatever you do, don't live your life in a bubble.
